Inspection procedure Note: it is the users responsibility to become familiar with all rules and regulations regarding the use of fall protection products, including safety retractable lanyards. The unit must be inspected prior to each use. Become familiar with the warnings on labels and check dates to ensure compliance. Inspect the housing for damage, dents, and cracks. Check for any missing parts, loose bolts, nuts and screws. Inspect the load indicator hook, latch and swivel for any defects and/ or distortion. Extend the cable/ webbing line the full length and inspect for any kinks, broken wires, abrasions, rust, cuts, fraying, broken stitching, and burns. Test the braking mechanism by giving the line a quick downward tug, so as to engage the brake. Because of the 5' per second minimum rate needed to activate the brake, this unit cannot be used in areas where loose debris is a problem, this may choke up the cable/ webbing, disabling the braking system. If any feature seems questionable, do not use the unit. Any servicing needed must be done by a certified repair center. There are no parts that can be serviced in the field. If the unit has been subject to a severe fall arrest, it must be returned to the factory for inspection and/ or repair before it can be reused, and it will also be certified. The unit should be positioned directly above or in front of the worker, in the line with a possible fall. This will help guard against any injury from swinging (pendulum effect) the worker should be aware of any sharp edges which could damage the line. All units shall be attached to anchorage point able to withstand a 5000 lb. load. The load indicator hook may only be attached to the back d-ring of a full body harness. Note: Retractables are available in stainless steel upon request. |
